Julian Stein is a media artist based in Los Angeles, CA. He creates performances and installations that examine cross-modal relationships between the analog and the digital, primarily through expressions of sound, movement, and light. His work is time-based, informed by musical structure that gives specific attention to intuition and present experience. Through the use of technology, Stein aims to examine and transcend aspects of daily life, mediated through systems that demonstrate applications of the everyday in both composed and real-time environments.
Recently, Julian has attained an MFA from the University of California Los Angeles in Design Media Arts. He also has a BFA from Concordia University in Electroacoustic Studies, and is a co-creator of the Montreal Sound Map.
